Hey, all. Remember this? Does anybody even check this anymore, or do we just all check Facebook updates?

Just "for your FYI" :)

Hey all, since I never update my blog and never check it for comments (which it never gets, anyway), and since probably nobody else ever checked it either, I decided just to take it down.

I read it...

... and I'm in the same boat. Wondering why other people aren't posting! But also not posting myself.

My post is about busy-ness. We have been "busy" lately. I use the quotes because for once we are busy doing things we actually ENJOY doing rather than things we HAVE to do. Here's what we've been up to:
  • We went on a 7 mile hike up Farmington Canyon in the snow... beautiful!
  • Drove up to Weber State pond yesterday with 2 loaves of bread and fed the ducks which was absolutely hilarious. There were like 50 ducks and they would just swarm around you to get the bread and follow you everywhere.
  • Watched American Idol after a 3 or 4 season hiatus
  • Watched the Superbowl & the hilarious Office episode that aired after
  • Made frozen dinners
  • Went to the Jazz game this last Monday
  • Watched Kathryn and Danielle on Saturday during Jami's birth, and got to see beautiful Addison!
  • Drove around Farmington and Fruit Heights looking at mansions up on the hill. 90% of which were for sale, and 50% of which were bank-owned--no exaggeration! But beautiful homes, which are probably a steal right now.
  • Had a barbeque in the snow with Greek Souvlaki that I made myself... it was so good, but I had heartburn for about 2 days.

It is really nice to not be "busy." I feel like I can be available for others more, I find myself thinking about more important things, and I am noticeably more relaxed and less stressed. I take baths, read, work on scrapbooking, write in my journal, and give the dogs more attention. Mike and I decided this is how life should be--enjoyable every day. In the words of "Death of a Salesman," why work really really hard 50 weeks a year for a 2 week vacation? Our new motto is that every week should be a vacation! So, our goal is to do at least one thing per week that we would do on vacation, i.e. hike, camp, ride horses, swim, picnic, watch the stars, sports, museums, bowling, etc etc etc.

Does anybody read this?

So I noticed that nobody has posted on this for a while. I got kind of tired of checking the blog to see if anybody had posted anything new and there not being anything new. Then I realized maybe everybody else is doing the same thing and we just need a catalyst here to get things started. Well, restarted.

So everybody should know by now that Jami had her baby. Little Addison is adorably cute. Since she looks nothing at all like our kids, they can all be adorably cute without having to compete for who's cuter.

Also, if anybody is interested, here are some of my more interesting pictures from my graphics class. I wrote the program that rendered them.

Reflective/Transmissive: shows the changes as a marble becomes gradually more transmissive and less reflective.

Five Spheres: Two reflective spheres and one transparent one to show off reflections and refractions.

Billiars: Shows off shadows and some reflections.

Axis Triangles: Multiple light sources, shadows, and reflection

Arvo (my nemesis!): Some funky refractions, inner reflections (light refracted at the surface then refelcted inside the object). This one took forever to get right...

Whitted: Fun with refractions and reflections

Thanks a lot! I'll be here all semester!

Ok, I'll try...

Today is Saturday, and I should be on the mountain filming David's ski race. Unfortunately, I've contracted bronchitis again, so the doctor ordered me to stay home all weekend. I guess that gives me time to try this blog! Mom and Michael are up on the mountain. Mom is gatekeeping, and Michael is filming the girls' race. Chi Miller is filming the boys race for me.

Emily and Dave's web site and email are back up again. Somehow the internet erased the DNS pointer that shows the "frogley.name" site where to go. Their account setup on our hosting site has always been a little wierd with some parts of the setup invisible to me for some reason. By working with the hosting company, we were able to get things all setup again, this time the right way. All should be fine now.

In case you haven't heard, we've also been working on getting our projector mounted on the ceiling in the family room. The most difficult part was running the wires. At some point, we had to run wires under the house. After being under the house for about 15 minutes, I decided I couldn't stand it any more. I had to get out. I was feeling closter phobic and I couldn't think clearly. So I got out. To complete the job, I cut a large hole in a wall, drilled a hole from the above ground level, and then send Michael and Steven under the house to get things connected up.

I have to say that it is a new experience for me to ask my children to do something I can't do myself. Does that make sense? While Michael and Steven were under the house, I paced back and forth constantly. I was in radio contact with Michael, and he was just fine under the house, but still, when I know how I felt under there, it was hard to send my kids there. But they did a great job. I took a picture of them under the house, but it's still on mom's camera which is currently on the mountain with her. I'll have to add it later.

Anyway, now all the wiring is done and tested. We're still waiting for the projector mount itself to arrive.

Ok, Lindsay, there you go. I blogged. My first time ever. After all, I can't ask my kids to do something I'm not able to do myself!

e-mail fun

So, in case anyone hasn't noticed yet. My email and Dave's email mysteriously stopped working the other day. I didn't really realize that anything was wrong until Dave mentioned it... I just thought it was weird that I hadn't gotten any mail, since I usually get 20+ emails a day.

Also, both my blog and Dave's blog are linked to our frogley.name website... so those are down too. Oh, the joys of technology.

On another note (not necessarily better), morning sickness seems to have hit hard and early this time and I'm feeling gross most of the day. I'm now trying my best to get out of bed before 10am, and working hard to make sure the girls and I eat three meals a day. Other than that... everything else is getting ignored, as I'm sure Dave would confirm. (Sorry Dave!! I love you!) I'm just hoping that since this started a week or two earlier than normal, maybe it will end a week or two earlier than normal...

In case anyone cares...

... juggling three very young kids, a 3/4 time job, and 3/4 time school is quite stressful. Fortunately I have some things to look forward to: American Idol, Monk, Psych... sleep (when I can)... The Office... Oh yeah, and the huge smiles and hugs and cries of "Daddy!!" I get every time I walk in the door. Those smiles definitely make it worth it. Even Christine gets in on the excitement!

So that's my life in a nutshell at the moment. "No, this is me in a nutshell: oh my, how on earth did I get inside this incredibly large nutshell?" (Please forgive me if I didn't quote it exactly, I only saw it once about twelve years ago. If you don't know, you're probably better off.)

Initial Post

Hey, just making sure this works.

Good for a laugh

For the first post, I thought I'd relay a great movie quote:

"The entire state of Virginia had to have Solitaire removed from their computers since they hadn't done any work in 6 months... Name one good thing that has come from technology!"

"Electricity."

"That's ONE."

Or my favorite from that movie: (you have to read this one with the character's voices in your head--otherwise it's not as funny!)

"You're... not in love with me."

"No."

"Me. Either."

"You're not in love with me?"

"No."

"But we're so perfect for each other!"

"I know!"

The Arrington Family Blog

Hey everyone--

I made this so everyone can create a log in and post to the same blog so we can share things with each other that way!
